First Security Tower
Multiple-use buildings serve many needs, but they also create complexities. First Security Tower in downtown Little Rock’s booming River Market district is home to three very different types of tenant: Courtyard by Marriott occupies floors one through six, Crews and Associates investment banking firm occupies floors seven through 10, and individual tenants occupy luxury condos on floors 11 through 14.
To meet this variety of unique needs, Advanced was chosen to design and install the tower’s fire alarm and structured cabling solutions.
The Gamewell FCI NetSolo fire alarm and voice evacuation system has at its foundation a fiber network installed between 14 fire panels placed throughout the building to provide maximum redundancy and regeneration of the panels in case of a catastrophic fire. The solution features the ability to pinpoint the location of a fire by identifying the exact detector that sensed it. The NetSolo system also includes a firefighter telephone system with multiple communication access points on each of the building’s 14 floors.
The fire alarm solution also provides automatic stairwell pressurization, HVAC control and shutdowns, as well as elevator control.
Coordination of tenant needs also was a major factor in Advanced’s design of the First Security Tower’s structured cabling solution, which includes more than 1,300 voice, data and fiber cables. For Crews and Associates, Advanced installed more than 400 Category 6 data cables and 300 voice cables – all networked to the firm’s data center via gigabit fiber optic links. Courtyard by Marriott engaged Advanced to install more than 500 Category 5e cables for voice, data and high-speed internet capability and to tie back all meeting rooms and offices to its internal network. Advanced also provided the cabling infrastructure for First Security Bank branch location and auto bank as well as many of the condominiums.
