ADEQ Headquarters
Green Is the Color of Today
The Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) in September 2007 moved into its new headquarters, the first state government building in Arkansas to undergo "green" building construction and to be (LEED certified) by the two primary designating authorities. The ADEQ building received the Three Globe Standard from the Green Building Initiative, and the Gold Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Rating from the U.S. Green Building Council. The ratings are based on design, construction, and operation features that promote resource conservation and energy efficiency.
Advanced brought many of our core capabilities to bear in the construction of the six-story, 124,000-square-foot ADEQ building, which is one of the anchors of the relatively new NorthShore business park in North Little Rock. Advanced was initially contracted by Windstream Communications to provide the voice, data, fiber and cable TV cabling. Before the project was completed, however, the owner and architect teamed to chose Advanced to integrate the following systems into the newly constructed building:
- Access control with CCTV Systems – access control regulates the areas in which each employee or guest is allowed; CCTV (Closed Circuit TV) is a camera system with digital video recorder that monitors the interior and exterior of the facility.
- Closed-circuit TV system – a camera system with digital video recorder that monitors the interior and exterior of the facility
- Video phone – a system that allows security personnel to grant entry to gated areas for deliveries and other entry
- Talk-a-Phone Security – a system that includes flashing lights and emergency phones throughout the parking area to promote safety and security
- Security system – the internal security system that guards against unwarranted entry and is monitored
